Hello. On 'The Jazz Hour' this week I'll be recognising what would have been the 'birthdays', over the past week, of Buddy Tate, David Newman and Dexter Gordon and this weeks 'offering' in the theme 'The Norman Granz Season' features pianist and singer Blossom Dearie.
I'll have the final instalment from the 'Album of the Month' from Curtis Fuller and this weeks 'Back to Back' takes in two tracks from the London born big leader Harry Roy.
I'll also have an update on Worcestershire's very own 'Pershore' and 'Upton' Jazz Festivals for 2021.
So, with all that to come and much, much more please join me from 9pm on Sunday evening here on Longside Radio, for some super jazz.
Have a great weekend!!

'The Jazz Man' ...
Hello. On 'The Jazz Hour' this week, I'll have the start of a new theme I'm calling 'The Norman Granz Season', a theme, which over the next few weeks' looks at the many tours and concerts known as 'Jazz at the Philharmonic', that brought together many of the great and the good of the jazz world.
I'll also have tracks featuring Humphrey Lyttelton, The Benny Goodman Orchestra, Buddy De Franco, Nancy Wilson and Nina Simone to get through, and I'll be remembering the late, great Chick Corea who passed away earlier this month.
There will of course be much, much, so why not join me from 9pm on Sunday evening, here on Longside Radio.
Have a great weekend!!!

So, for all that and much, much more, please join me here on Longside Radio on Sunday evening from 9pm.

'The Jazz Man' ...
Hello. It's 'The Jazz Man' here. As a precursor to a new theme on my 'Jazz Hour' programme on Sunday evenings, I'm trying to make contact with anyone who may have attended or knows of someone who may have attended a concert 'Jazz at the Philharmonic', at either the Birmingham Town Hall or Birmingham Odeon somewhere during the period 1958 to 1960, as arranged by Norman Granz. If you have such information, then I'd love to hear from you by email please to alun@longsideradio.co.uk.
Thank you!

This weeks 'Back to Back' features a couple of tracks from the delightful vocalist Sue Holliday and I'll be remembering pianist Keith Nicholls, a favourite of many a jazz festival here in the UK, who sadly passed away in January.
So, for much, much more of the same, I do hope you'll join me from 9pm on Sunday evening here on Longside Radio.
Have a great weekend!!
