Muddy fields and lots of usage does not mix with carpets and asking people to take their shoes off before entering the studio is not really workable!  So as the existing carpet was not the nicest thing we needed to look at alternative flooring for most of the van.

As we want it to be easy to clean we started looking at either floor paints or vinyl tiles.  We then pulled up the carpet and discovered we were not the first people to repair this caravan as there was a large plywood patch in the middle of the floor.   This ruled out just painting it and also means we need to bring the rest of the floor up to the same level so we have a flat floor.

You can see the patch on the left and a bit of 5.5mm ply on the right to check it is the right thickness

It was at this point when Steve and Helen from VW Retro Restorations jumped in and donated a roll of padded lino they had knocking around which will be ideal as it will cover a multitude of sins,  be easy to clean and will  help with sound insulation,  so a big thanks to Steve and Helen!
